VietNamNet Bridge - After 18 years since it was licenced, the $50 million America International Hospital has yet to come into operation.

This project was licensed in 1997, with a total capital of $50 million, invested by Keystone Invest Group (USA). The hospital is located in the center of Cau Giay District, with a total area of 27,000 m2. The hospital was designed with 300 beds, and will specialize in the treatment of serious diseases such as cancer, brain, and cardiovascular problems.

Due to problems with site clearance, the construction started in 2006 but until now it has not completed yet.

The project has proceeded slowly because the investor had to wait for the construction licence and the Ministry of Defence’s permission on building a helipad on the roof.

In 2011, the installation of electrical equipment was interrupted because the contractor provided a below-standard air conditioning system. The $50 million hospital now looks like an abandoned building, after 18 years.

It is a big waste when Hanoi is in shortage of hospitals.
