VietNamNet Bridge - The head of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will meet with top leaders of Vietnam during his three-day visit.

Mr. Takehiko Nakao will meet President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and State Bank Governor Nguyen Van Binh, on September 19-20.

The content of the meetings will focus on economic and development issues such as the impact of the 8-point agenda of the ADB on the effort to reduce poverty and gain inclusive growth, the ADB's assessment of economic development, and the mid-term report of the ADB’s 2020 Strategy for Vietnam.

Mr. Nakao will also make an important speech at the 5th Asia Development Forum (ADF5) which will take place in Hanoi on September 19 morning, chaired by Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh.

The ADB President will visit a pumping station project in Tien Lu district, Hung Yen province, which is funded by ADB. This project has a total investment of $6.16 million, including $4.93 million from an ADB loan.

Upon completion in 2010, this pumping station has helped local farmers have sufficient water in the spring and summer crops.

During the peak of the flood season from May to September, the pumping station has helped protect the rice growing areas in Hung Yen.
