VietNamNet Bridge – Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Sinh Hung asked the drafting board of the law on immigration, migration and residence of foreigners in Vietnam to take special notice of simplifying administrative procedures to ensure openness, transparency, convenience and compliance with international practices.
The NA Chairman made the request at the 13th NA Standing Committee’s ongoing 21st session in Hanoi on September 10.
He also stressed that the draft law needs to clearly and fully reflect the principle of national sovereignty and equality in international relations, harmoniously combine the demands of economic development and diplomatic expansion with ensuring national security, social order and safety, as well as eliminate current flaws.
During the working session, members of the Standing Committee asked the drafting board to make stricter and more concrete regulations on beneficiaries, conditions, processes, procedures and competence in permitting foreigners to reside in Vietnam, as well as special cases in which the change of visa purposes is allowed.
They also called upon the board to pay more attention to scientists and experts who Vietnam needs to serve its national development.
The session also heard a number of opinions that asked the drafting board to approach issues regarding the establishment of an ASEAN Community by late 2015, build a draft law on Vietnamese citizens who live abroad and hold two nationalities, consider the building of regulations on visa exemption, and connect information sharing among State managerial agencies in the field.
In the afternoon, participants discussed the draft law on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Marriage and Family Law.
