The African swine fever (ASF) in pigs has appeared in 55 out of 63 provinces and centrally run cities in Vietnam, forcing the cull of 2.5 million pigs, or 7.5 percent of the total pig stocks.

African swine fever have broken out in 52 localities across the country, causing an estimated VND3.6 trillion (US$154.8 million) in damage, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

African swine fever hit 3,508 communes in 52 provinces and cities nationwide by June 3, according to a report from the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

As of April 10, no new cases of African swine fever (ASF) had been reported in the 12 ASF-outbreak areas over the past 30 days, according to the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
