The baby zebra weighs about 10kg and is identified as female.
Mr. Duong Thanh Phi, the zoo director, said the African zebra was pregnant naturally, without any intervention of the zoo staff.
The zoo imported two pairs of zebras. After 4 years, the zoo currently has seven zebras. Zebras are pregnant for about 8.5 months. Their food is mainly grass so they are very easy to raise.
Weather in the southeastern region is quite suitable for wild zebras to grow. The Dai Nam Zoo has many species of rare animals such as hippos, tigers, antelopes, zebras ... which were imported and all of them gave birth.
