Typhoon Yagi, Asia's strongest tropical storm in 2024, devastated Việt Nam, leaving at least 226 dead and 104 missing as of September 12, because of storm, flood and landslides.
With winds of up to 166kph during its landfall on September 7, Yagi, was one of the strongest typhoons to ever hit Việt Nam in decades.
Division 316 of Military Region 2 and the Phú Thọ Provincial Military Command dispatched over 400 officers and soldiers to assist Hạ Hoà District in constructing embankments to prevent flood water.
Trees were uprooted, roofs were blown off, power was cut, and the torrential rains caused a devastating flood after the wind subsided.
But the Vietnamese people did not kneel, did not back down, and stood strong against one of nature's biggest disasters. Many lives were lost, but there were also many saved due to the courageous efforts of rescue teams.
