A reading showcase of the musical was held on the evening of October 12 at the Youth Theatre of Vietnam, offering audiences an emotionally rich and refreshing theatrical experience.

This marks the first phase of a two-year collaborative project (2025–2026) between the Youth Theatre (Vietnam), SangsangMaru Theatre, and the Guri Cultural Foundation (South Korea).

The reading showcase format functions as a public rehearsal, where performers read the script and present main songs to give the audience a preview of the spirit, content, and message of the musical.

This form of presentation is widely used in developed performing arts industries and is a key step before a full-scale production.

For the Vietnamese version, My dream was meticulously adapted through script translation, musical composition, and dual reading showcases - one in South Korea by Korean artists and one in Vietnam, performed by the Youth Theatre’s cast.

The musical is based on the stage script by author Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh, who won first prize in the 2023–2024 national children's scriptwriting contest “Vietnamese stories touching the world.”

Audiences enjoy not only expressive dialogue but also uplifting melodies.

The story follows Linh, a girl enduring the aftermath of Agent Orange, who continues to dream of developing technology to aid vulnerable communities.

It is a moving journey of perseverance, hope, and life purpose, conveying the message that every dream deserves to be cherished and pursued, regardless of one’s circumstances.

During the showcase, audiences were treated to both expressive readings and bright, high-energy musical numbers performed live on stage.

Korean composer Rhim Seyoung, who served as the show’s music director, aimed to convey an abundance of positive energy to the audience.

The music features a vibrant tone while integrating elements of traditional Vietnamese folk music to reflect the country’s cultural identity.

Representatives from Youth Theatre (Vietnam), SangsangMaru Theatre, and Guri Cultural Foundation (South Korea) signed a cooperation agreement to develop works for children, families, and youth.

According to Meritorious Artist Si Tien, Director of the Youth Theatre, My dream is the first musical project marking a three-party collaboration focused on developing works for children, families, and teenagers, while also creating learning opportunities for young Vietnamese artists in a professional musical theatre environment.

This is also the third musical project for children developed by the Youth Theatre in collaboration with Korean experts, following the success of The goblin's child and Zorba the detective cat.

From the Korean side, Um Dongyoul, Director of SangsangMaru Theatre, shared that following the reading showcase, the production team will continue refining the script and musical score in preparation for an official debut in Vietnam in 2026, before participating in further performances in South Korea.
