Da Nang, with its jam-packed summer events program, has emerged as the top destination among Vietnamese traveling during the summer break, according to new data published on June 26 by Agoda.

Examining where travelers from within Vietnam are booking from June through August, the country’s “most livable city” has secured the crown of top summer destination as it hosts an array of events and activities for all ages.
Whether it’s the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, setting the skies alight until its finale on June 30, the Helio Summer Festival (June to September), which includes entertainment events ranging from food festivals to Dragon Dance Festivals, or Paragliding Racing, where contestants descend 700 meters from scenic Son Tra Peninsula to its stunning shores, Da Nang has travelers covered.
What’s more, the actively-inclined have something to look forward to as well, as the Da Nang International Marathon draws participants and supporters to the central coast for the 42-km challenge.
Nha Trang continues to prove popular, according to Agoda’s data, as the Number 2 domestic destination and offering respite for those looking to beat the heat, while Da Nang’s neighbor, Hoi An, offers attractions such as the legendary Lantern Festival in late June and is placed third.
The cooler climes of Da Lat emerged as the Number 4 summer destination. With Hanoi’s heat and Ho Chi Minh City alternating between simmering and soaking its way through its rainy season, the mountain-top retreat is an understandably desirable place for residents of the two main cities to enjoy a more temperate environment.
While domestic destinations dominate the Top 10 spots for independent travelers to go in the summer of 2018, people traveling abroad favor neighboring Southeast Asia cities like Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
