On the afternoon of July 22, 2024, during CMC University’s Strategic Conference, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC Corporation and Chairman of the CMC University Council, officially announced the launch of "AI University." The event was attended by senior leaders of CMC Corporation, CMC University, CMC Applied Technology Institute (CMC ATI), domestic and international partner enterprises, as well as a large number of lecturers, staff, and students.

From “Digital University” to “AI University”

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh stated: “Throughout its over 30-year history since its establishment, CMC Corporation has always been a pioneer in investment, research, development, and application of new technologies. From the inception of the university, the leadership was determined to build CMC University based on the corporation's core strength in technology, making it the first Digital University model in Vietnam.

The transition from “Digital University” to “AI University” today marks a significant milestone. It is not just a change in name but a strong commitment from CMC University to apply technology and artificial intelligence in management, teaching, learning, research, and student experience. CMC University aims to become a modern, innovative learning environment that enhances AI application capabilities for students, staff, lecturers, and researchers."

“AI University will be a historic transformation for CMC University,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh.

Transforming education with AI

The lively discussion session featured presentations on the changes brought by AI in curriculum development, educational resource creation, teaching and learning processes, AI-specific workforce training, and short-term AI certification courses at CMC University by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vice Rector of CMC University.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, AI has had and continues to have significant impacts on education, from improving teaching quality to optimizing school management.

Also within the conference framework, Dr. Dang Minh Tuan, Director of CMC Applied Technology Institute (CMC ATI) and Dean of the Faculty of Microelectronics and Telecommunications at CMC University, introduced some core technologies developed by CMC.

CMC students can experience and use “Made by CMC” technologies and have the opportunity to participate in practical training, internships, research, and work with leading experts at the CMC ATI.

Investment in AI University

In the presentation on investment plans for the AI University model, Mr. Le Thanh Son, Vice President of CMC Corporation and Deputy General Director of CMC University, stated: “In the initial phase, CMC will focus on investing in technology infrastructure and solutions using the corporation's technological capabilities, as well as through collaborations with major partners like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Intel, and Synopsys. CMC students will be trained and guided in using AI as a powerful tool for responsible learning and research, ensuring academic integrity.”

Concluding the conference, Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh affirmed: “CMC Corporation has been investing in, researching, developing, and applying AI for many years. This “AI University” transition reaffirms CMC’s strong commitment to investment, research, and innovation to build CMC University as a pioneer in applying technology and artificial intelligence in management, teaching, learning, scientific research, student experience, and developing high-quality human resources, contributing to a prosperous Vietnam.”
