VietNamNet Bridge - Air Mekong launched flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province on October 8.

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam presented an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to the new carrier on the same day.

From now to March 26, 2011, Air Mekong is scheduled to provide passenger and cargo services on routes from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Buon Me Thuot and Pleiku, as well as from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat.

This is the third private air carrier granted a license in the country.

On the occasion of the launch of the new service, Air Mekong runs a promotion program to discount at least 1,000 tickets for customers.

 

Vietnam Airlines provides more millennium flights

The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, has announced an increase of 13 more flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from October 7-11, to meet the travelling demand during the millennium anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.


The additional flights brought the total flights on the route to an average of 32 per day, providing a capacity of 8,860 seats a day.


Aircraft serving during the festival are the 150-seat Airbus 320, the 184-seat Airbus A321, the 266-seat Airbus 330 and the 282-seat Airbus 330.
