A high-level delegation from Airbus recently visited CMC Corporation at CMC Tower, Hanoi, to gain insights into Vietnam’s fast-evolving technology landscape and discuss potential collaboration in digital transformation, AI, data, and IT workforce development.
The meeting, held from 11:30 to 13:30, brought together senior leaders from both organizations. Representing CMC were Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors/Executive Chairman; Mr. Ho Thanh Tung, Chief Executive Officer; along with executive vice presidents responsible for Solutions, Telecom, Global Business, and Education & Training. Leaders from CMC OpenAI, CMC Global, and CMC Telecom also joined the discussion.
Airbus’s delegation included Mr. Philippe Pezet, Senior Vice President of Human Resources – Airbus International; Mr. Marc Lemeilleur, CEO of NAVBLUE Global; Ms. Sandra de Lucas, Digital Transformation Director – Airbus International; Ms. Hoang Tri Mai, General Manager for Airbus in Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia; and regional leaders in charge of HR, technology, and digital transformation across Asia-Pacific.

Exploring CMC’s digital infrastructure
Following a formal welcome, the Airbus delegation toured CMC’s state-of-the-art data center at CMC Tower - part of a nationwide data center ecosystem spanning Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This ecosystem includes facilities at CMC Tower, CMC Creative Space Tan Thuan, and the CMC Data Center in Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP), with new developments underway in Tay Ho Tay, Hoa Lac, and SHTP 2.
With a designed capacity of tens of megawatts, these data centers are built to meet international standards in safety, security, and operations.
Mr. Dang Tung Son, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of CMC Corporation, emphasized that this digital infrastructure underpins CMC’s Cloud and AI-as-a-Service platforms and the broader CMC OpenAI ecosystem. These tools are designed to support digital and AI transformation - referred to as AI-X - for enterprises in Vietnam and beyond.

Airbus explores Vietnam’s technology and talent potential
Airbus representatives shared their strategic interest in Vietnam’s digital technology market, particularly in sourcing skilled IT engineers and partnering on large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
Globally, Airbus leads in aerospace innovation - spanning commercial aircraft, helicopters, defense, and space - and is committed to pioneering sustainable aviation through fuel efficiency, emission reduction, and new technologies. Through its subsidiary NAVBLUE, Airbus offers flight operations solutions that optimize routing, fuel use, scheduling, and safety.

In Vietnam, Airbus has had a longstanding presence since its early cooperation in helicopter services for the oil and gas sector. Today, Airbus provides aircraft to national and private airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, and Sun PhuQuoc Airways. NAVBLUE is also active in Vietnam, offering digital flight-operations solutions.
“Vietnam is emerging as a promising technology hub with a young, capable, and ambitious IT workforce,” said Mr. Philippe Pezet. “Airbus is looking for partners that can manage large-scale tech teams and co-develop digital and AI solutions to support our operations and sustainable growth. CMC possesses many of the qualities we are seeking.”
Partnership potential in IT workforce development
One of the key themes of the visit was the potential for cooperation in IT talent development.
Mr. Dang Van Tu, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of CMC Corporation, shared CMC’s experience in building and managing global IT teams - especially through the Global Delivery Center (GDC) model. The company regularly deploys programs with 100–200 engineers and has the capacity to scale up to 1,000 depending on project needs.
CMC’s talent strategy combines a core team of seasoned engineers, project-based experts, and a network of young professionals trained according to CMC’s internal standards.
During the session, CMC also introduced AI-powered HR solutions that include candidate matching systems, predictive analytics for attrition risk, retention policy design, and digital assistants for performance management - features that align closely with Airbus’s global workforce transformation goals.

From airline digital transformation to AI-X strategy
As part of the corporate overview, CMC highlighted its four strategic pillars: Technology & Solutions, Digital Infrastructure, Global Business, and Research & Education. Its AI-X strategy aims to embed AI across internal operations and customer-facing services, contributing to Vietnam’s digital economy and green growth.
CMC also presented its experience in aviation digital transformation, including:
Implementing the AMOS MRO system for VAECO (Vietnam Airlines’ maintenance arm)
Building the ticketing platform for Vietjet
Collaborating with a five-star airline in Singapore to modernize operations and digitize data
Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong, Deputy Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of CMC Global, said the two sides explored synergies in applying AI and data analytics for workforce management, flight operations, scheduling, fuel optimization, and maintenance - leveraging Airbus’s aviation expertise, CMC’s AI platforms, and NAVBLUE’s solutions.
“We see this visit by Airbus as a strategic beginning - linking a global aerospace leader with a Vietnamese tech firm aligned with AI-X and Go Global ambitions,” said Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh. “With our digital infrastructure, cloud/AI platforms, and seasoned engineering teams, CMC is ready to support Airbus in transformation initiatives across Vietnam, the region, and the world”.

Looking ahead: Concrete areas for collaboration
Airbus and CMC concluded the session by agreeing to explore specific areas of cooperation:
Building and managing digital talent for Airbus’s global programs
Co-developing AI and data solutions for operations and HR management
Leveraging CMC’s cloud and data infrastructure for aerospace digitalization
As Vietnam accelerates efforts in green growth and digital economy integration, such collaborations not only unlock new business opportunities but also elevate the country’s position on the global technology map.
