Reviewing implementation of Resolution 17 on key duties and solutions to develop an electronic government, MIC said that inspection, assessment, and supervision of cybersecurity for information systems that serve e-government have been continually promoted.

The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), an arm of AIS, in June reported that it detected, issued warnings and guided the handling of 1,723 cyberattacks to information systems in Vietnam, or 2.5 times higher than that in May 2023, up 46.3 percent compared with the same period last year.

However, in the first half of 2023, the total accumulated number of cyberattacks on information systems that caused incidents was 6,362 in the first half of the year, down 4.2 percent compared with the first six months of 2022.

Pursuing the principle of -government with information safety, cybersecurity, national security and personal information, MIC will continue strengthening supervision over information system safety, scan Vietnam’s cyberspace, review and give warnings in the mass media, so that users can be aware of danger and prepare solutions.

At the same time, MIC has also released legal documents, informing ministries, branches and localities, together with members of the incident response network, that they should check vulnerabilities and scan to detect signs of cyberattacks.

MIC also pointed out that creating digital confidence in the network environment is the mission of the cybersecurity information sector.

The protection of Vietnam’s prosperity means protection of more than 3,000 information systems of the Party and the State, and the activities of 100 million people, nearly 1 million businesses, 5 million business households, 26 million households, 44,000 schools, and 14,000 medical facilities.

At a conference reviewing tasks in the first six months of 2023, MIC Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long on June 30 said one of the outstanding achievements in the first half of 2023 was the establishment of three platforms to provide tools to help ministries, branches and localities in state management, law enforcement, and supervision and measurement of activities to ensure information security.

These include a platform that helps management to ensure information system security according to certain levels; and a platform that supports coordination and accident response; and a platform that assists in a population census.
