The matches took place at Phu Tho Tennis Complex, HCM City.

Lim of Hung Thinh – HCM City beat 16-year-old Vietnamese-Hungarian Fodor Csilla of Da Nang 7-5, 6-2 in the women’s singles final to take the title.

It is the first time Lim has played in a national event of Vietnam. She aims to wear the national jersey to compete in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games as well as the Asian Games.

Lim, previously world No 135, has competed in the Grand Slam seven times.

She was the image ambassador at the Hung Thinh Viet Nam Open last year.

“This final was very difficult for me. Csilla played very well in the first set, however, she was exhausted in the second set so I took this chance to win. Csilla is a strong player and I am very glad to play with her,” said Lim.

Meanwhile, Csilla praised Lim and said: “Lim is very strong with strong attacks. This loss helped me know my weaknesses and I must repair them.”

In the women’s doubles final, Lim and her teammate Phan Nhu Quynh defeated Nguyen Tu Kim Ngan and Nguyen Thi Be Xuyen of the Military team 7-5, 6-0.

In the men’s singles semi-finals, No 1 seed Hoang Thanh Trung of Police easily beat Alexander Truong Giang Thanh of Hung Thinh – HCM City, while No 2 seed Nguyen Dac Tien also bested Timothy Toan Phung of Hai Dang Tay Ninh.

In the men’s doubles, Bui Tri Nguyen and Nguyen Anh Thang of Hai Dang Tay Ninh overcame Le Trung Tinh and Tran Hoang Anh Khoa of the Military team 6-4, 6-4 to enter the final.

The men’s finals will take place today.
