A thief pinching a mobile phone from the Argentinean ambassador was seized thanks to a photo taken by his Venezuelan counterpart.

At the East Asia-Latin America street festival held last Monday in Hue, the Venezuelan ambassador to Vietnam happened to snap a photo of a thief pretending to hold a camera in one hand while putting the other hand into the pocket of the Argentinean ambassador to steal his phone.

The photo was later handed to the organizers. Thanks to the photo, the province police managed to catch the thief a few days afterwards.

The festival was part of the National Tourism Year in the Northern Central Coastal Region and Hue Festival 2012 that opened in the central city of Hue last Saturday.

At the opening ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavath, among other foreign guests.

According to Ngo Hoa, deputy head of the province’s committee and head of the organizers, the festival attracted 64,500 visitors to Hue over the last three days and the hotel occupancy reached nearly 87 percent.
