The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (DOET) has proposed that the city’s People’s Committee dissolve the American International School Vietnam (AISVN) after the school failed to address the issues that led to its suspension.

AISVN had been suspended from educational activities, with DOET issuing written guidance requiring reports and evidence of corrective measures. In June 2025, the department met with the investor, American International School Education JSC, to review the progress of these corrective actions.

However, on June 18, company representative Ho Quang Trung submitted a request to extend the suspension until June 30, 2026, without providing details of any remedial action. This meant that, by the end of the initial suspension period, AISVN had not resolved the causes of its suspension.

DOET also sought information from other city agencies, including the Department of Finance, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Home Affairs, Social Insurance Agency, and the Tax Department. Responses revealed that the company had failed to submit its semiannual labor usage report for early 2025, closed its head office, missed tax declarations for March and April 2025, and owed over 31 billion VND (about 1.22 million USD) in overdue social, health, unemployment, and occupational insurance contributions.

As of the end of June 2025, the investor had no effective financial plan to settle debts or resume school operations. DOET emphasized that AISVN had neither remedied the violations nor proven its financial capacity to sustain operations. Therefore, it has submitted a proposal for dissolution in accordance with the Law on Education. If the investor meets the necessary conditions in the future, it may apply to establish a new multi-level school under current regulations.
