VietNamNet Bridge – A few people know that there is a “heaven” for frogs in Hanoi, where hundreds of amphibians of nearly 20 species are growing. That place is the amphibian research center in Co Nhue commune, Tu Liem district.

The center was built by the Institute for Ecological and Biological Resources in 2006 to research and preserve rare amphibians.

The center currently has 18 rare species of amphibians and 6 species of reptiles, which were collected from many provinces in Vietnam.

The center’s director, Dr. Dang Tat The, said “that many species of frogs in Vietnam are highly valued in terms of economics and sciences. The center has exported some species of frogs as ornamental creatures, pricing US$20-30/frog.”

Dr. The said that the center will open for visitors in the near future.
