An Giang terminate contracts with four players
Hung Vuong An Giang have said goodbye to four players with two games still remaining in the V-League.
An Giang, who are facing relegation, released goalkeeper Nguyen Minh Nhut, defender Nguyen Cong Thanh, and midfielders Nguyen Minh Tung and Pham Ngoc Quoc. Apart from Nhut, the other three were regular members of the main team.
"Their contracts will expire soon. We have failed to reach new agreements with them so we decided to let them go," said Vo Hoang Phong, An Giang's executive director.
"We may also face a play-off match this season so players who no longer want to give it their all should go," he added.
However, all four players were surprised to receive, saying they had always tried their best for the team.
An Giang are currently bottom of the table with only 12 points.
Their next match is away at third-placed Thanh Hoa on August 3.
Hanoi hosts national junior shooting champs
As many as 187 athletes from 13 teams nationwide are competing at the 23rd National Junior Shooting Championships, which kicked off at the National Sports and Physical Training Centre in Hanoi on July 28.
Vietnam Shooting Federation Chairman Nguyen Duc Uynh said the host city sent the largest number of competitors to the event (35), followed by HCM City (20) and the military team (19).
The champs, which will last until August 4, provide an excellent opportunity for local marksmen to hone their professional skills in preparation for regional and international competitions. The best athletes will be selected for the national team.
Ha Noi top youth weightlifting championships
Ha Noi won first place at the National Youth Weightlifting Championships which wrapped up in Hai Duong City yesterday.
The Ministry of Public Security came second, followed by Hai Phong.
The tournament welcomed 135 competitors from 23 teams nationwide. Teams competed across eight weight categories for men, from 56kg to 105kg, and seven for women, from 48kg to 75kg.
