VietNamNet Bridge – Nearly 300 houses on stilts of the Muong ethnic group in Dang and Thuong villages in Thach Thanh district of Thanh Hoa province have been recognized as traditional houses on stilts.

Most of houses in these villages are built in a turtle-shell shape, on fields. It is easy to see 200-year-old houses there.

A local said that it took them two to three years to build a house on stilts. As iron wood is very rare now, Muong people currently use other kinds of wood or even concrete columns. A new-styled house is priced VND40-70 million ($2,000-3,500).
