On February 17, Dr. Do Quang Trong, director of the Center for Ho Dynasty Citadel World Heritage Conservation in Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province, said through archaeological excavations, scientists of the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology and the center staff had discovered an ancient stone ammunition in an excavation pit on the Hoang Gia Road, located in front of the southern gate of the Ho Dynasty Citadel.
Dr. Trong said scientists collected more than 100 ancient stone cannonballs. There are cannonballs that were manipulated completely, with different sizes.
Dr. Trong said: "It is possible that in the Ho Dynasty, right in this area there was a cannonball production facility. This is the first time scientists have discovered an ancient rock dump of the Ho Dynasty, with relatively intact rock cannonballs. The discovery proves that Ho Quy Ly and Ho Dynasty were interested in military defense."
The ancient stone cannonballs are on display at the gallery of the Center for Ho Dynasty Citadel World Heritage Conservation in Vinh Tien commune, Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province.
