VietNamNet Bridge – An ancient stone tomb over 100 years old was found when people dig the ground to make an internal path in Phu Tho Post Office in Ly Thuong Kiet Street in HCMC’s District 10, Tuoi Tre reports.

The tomb is over 1.2 meters wide and over 2 meters long with a stone stele that tilted after the digging process. The stele was inscribed with the name of Mr. Nguyen Van Xuong as a forefather living in Chau Thanh, Cho Lon and the maker of the tomb was Xuong’s nephew named Nguyen Van Hau.

The tomb is estimated to be established in the Year of the Snake in 1905. Other local scholars also assumed that the tomb was built in 1845 under the reign of King Minh Mang.

However, given the job title of Nguyen Van Xuong carved on the stele, some researchers rejected the tomb’s year of making in 1845.

Leaders of Phu Tho Post Office said that they postponed the construction to wait for more directions from the authorities.

According to Pham Thanh Nam, head of heritage office of the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports, Phu Tho Post Office is located close to Thanh Thai Street where some ancient tombs had been found before.

The authorities are also waiting for opinions from experts and scholars to identify the date and values of the tomb before weighing any further preservation plan.
