VietNamNet Bridge – On the morning of January 29, a tamarind with a tree-trunk diameter of 1.5 m at Vo Thi Sau - Thach Thi Thanh intersection in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, suddenly fell and blocked the road and caused traffic jams in the city center.

The incident occurred at 6am.

At the time of the incident, the road was deserted. A few people saw the tree falling. They panicked and threw their vehicles to run away. The tree hit the roof of three houses, causing little damage.

According to local residents, the tree’s root was decayed.

The tree also hit four motorcycles but they were not damaged.

The falling tree made six electric poles broken and caused blackout in the region.

Immediately after the incident, the authorities sent workers to cut the tree and clear the scene. However, it took a lot of time to handle the incident because the tree is too big.

The incident caused traffic congestion on Vo Thi Sau road.
