VietNamNet Bridge – Laos's Vincent Ang finished first in the third stage of the ADC-Vinh Long Television international men's cycling event yesterday, Dec 27, to claim the overall lead with a time of 7hr, 9min and 22 sec.
Eighteen cyclists from Sai Gon Plant Protection, Domesco Dong Thap, ADC-Vinh Long managed to get a 1.52sec lead on the field 20km from the start of the 131km stage from Can Tho to Soc Trang cities and back.
Vincent pulled away from companion Wisut Kasiyaphat and Le Van Duan from Sai Gon to lead the group in Soc Trang City but fell back to third place behind Tran Van Quyen from Military Zone 7 and Duan in Nga Bay Town in Hau Giang Province.
Cyclists from ADC-Vinh Long caught up with the leading group 10km from the finish, but Vincent had already pulled away. He finished in 2:58.29, followed by Le Van Dong from Can Tho and Loh Sea Keong from Dutch CCN.
Thuy, who led the tournament after the second stage, finished one minute later.
Vincent's teammate Loh Sea Keong is now in second position with a combined time of 7:09.55, while Nguyen Luu Thanh Nhan from Sai Gon took third place with a combined time of 7:10.39.
Laos are leading the team competition with a combined time of 21:16.05, followed by Dutch CCN (21:16.39) and Can Tho (21:17.12).
Today the cyclists will race 170km from Can Tho City to Cao Lanh City and back.
