Tuyet will be joined at the free concert by Ky Phuong, Nam Khanh, Thuy Vu, Quynh Lan and pop star Phuong Thanh before an expected 1,000-strong audience.
The show titled Hat Nhu Cuoc Doi (Singing for Life) will use high-tech equipment and be televised on VTV3.
Tuyet will sing 17 pop, dance, and soft rock songs, including some written by Van Cao, Pham Dinh Chuong and Van Phung.
Songs such as Buon Tan Thu (Sad Autumn), Hoi Trung Duong (Ocean Festival) and Oi Me Ly (Oh... Ravishing) – which she will sing at the concert – made Tuyet the queen of soft music in Viet Nam.
"I enjoy singing songs by musicians like Van Cao and Trinh Cong Son, but I've also chosen to sing pop and rock songs for this show because that is how I started my career," she says.
Though she will be singing mostly songs that brought her fame, she promised her fans something different, saying: "I think new styles are needed by Vietnamese performers."
Tuyet will open the show with rock music together with Phuong Thanh and Ky Phuong.
"My partners and I have worked hard," she says.
Tuyet, a Hoi An native, began her singing career in 1978 with the Quang Nam-Da Nang Music and Dance Troupe.
In 1980 she trained at the Hue Music Conservatory. After graduation, she worked for Hai Dang, one of Khanh Hoa Province's leading art troupes.
She took part in the Professional Music and Song Festival in Ha Noi in 1987, winning the prize for the best singer singing about Ha Noi.
She came to HCM City in 1990 to develop her career.
In 1993 Tuyet was invited to perform in a concert featuring music by Van Cao. Her powerful yet dulcet voice created a very strong impression on everyone and she began to be recognised as a musical phenomenon.
She has since produced dozens of solo and group albums, most of which were received warmly by critics and fans.
She has performed in Europe and the US.
In recent years she has been touring with her band ATB.
"I like to face new challenges and overcome them," the 50-year-old says.
Singing for Life opens at 8pm on Sunday at Lan Anh Club, 291 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, District 10.
