Anh overcame athletes from both local and foreign clubs to win the men’s gold medal.

Vu Tuan Anh of Viewings Hanoi came second and Nguyen Dai Nghia of Da Nang Club was third.

Chu Thien Huong of Ha Noi Paragliding Club claimed the women’s title.

The tournament, which was organised over two days, attracted 66 participants, competing at Bu Hill in Chuong My District, Hanoi.

The tournament is expected to officially become part of the competition system in Southeast Asia in the near future.

According to Vo Quoc Thang of the organising board, paragliding is strongly developing in Vietnam. Earlier, there were dozens of people engaged in this sport, but the number has now increased to more than 200.

Paragliding is an event at the 2018 Asian Games and is also expected to be part of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Vietnam plans to participate in both competitions.

Thang hoped the Viet Nam Open would be a strong push for local athletes and serve as good preparation for national team members competing at the Indonesian Asian Games next year.
