Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen made the statement at a working session with the municipal Department of Tourism and relevant businesses on May 5.

Enriching contents of the festivals coupled with enhancing connection with travel agencies to popularise activities held during the festivals should be paid special attention to lure more foreigners, he suggested.

He also asked the municipal Tourism Department to reckon total foreign travellers to the city’s festivals to evaluate the attractiveness of the festivals.

Director of the municipal department Bui Ta Hoang Vu said that his department will join hands with relevant organisations and agencies to organise cultural, cuisine, fashion and technology festivals in the coming time.

Furthermore, the city’s festivals will be nudged closer to domestic and international visitors through travel businesses, he said, adding that the department is striving to meet the target of welcoming 7 million tourists in 2017.

Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector has held a myriad of activities to draw tourists. The Ao Dai (traditional long dress) Festival 2017 alone attracted over 70,000 people and left indelible impression on the visitors.
