The 8th annual Southern Traditional Cakes Festival will take place in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from April 12-16.
The event is organised every year on the occasion of the Hung Kings’ death anniversary (10th day of the third lunar month). It aims to preserve the traditional culinary art, promote local cake trademarks, and expand markets for the local products.
Themed “Taste of the southern region”, this year festival will feature 100 stalls displaying a wide range of cakes originated in Vietnamese southern localities while 100 others will showcase staples of other provinces and cities across the nation.
According to Nguyen Khanh Tung, Director of Can Tho city Trade, Investment Promotion and Exhibition Centre-the organiser of the event, said that various activities will be held during the festival such as traditional cake making competition and performance and a talk on how to seek markets for traditional cakes.
There will be a buffet stalls for cakes, folk games and an entertainment area for children.
The festival will be held at 108A, Le Loi Street, Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District.-VNA
