The “Ao dai and Tsumami flowers” programme, which took place within the framework of the sixth HCM City Ao Dai Festival, gave an insight into the Vietnamese and Japanese culture.

Addressing the event, Huynh Ngoc Van, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of HCM City, recalled the fifth festival in 2018 which marked the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, during which the Vietnamese traditional dress decorated with Tsumami flowers were displayed for the first time.

She commended the more than 200-year-old art of Tsumami flower making, as well as the harmonious combination between the flower and Ao Dai.

Tsumami flowers are made by assembling folded and glued square pieces of fabric onto a base without sewing. The flowers are then attached to a base with glue.-VNA
