Chinese display maker BOE Technology Group Co Ltd, a supplier of both Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, has unveiled plans to invest in the smart terminal project through the Beijing BOE Vision-Electronic Technology Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of BOE Group.
This information was released during a meeting held between Nguyen Van Tho, chairman of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of China’s BOE Group.
According to details given, the project is estimated to have a total investment capital of about US$300 million and will be deployed in the Phu My 3 Industrial Park in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
The project's ultimate objective is to assemble and produce computer screens with 7,000,000 units per year, as well as 3,000,000 TVs annually.
The factory is also set to produce electronic shelf labels (ESL) with 40,000,000 units per and other types of electronic units.
The project is expected to be completed and enter operation ahead in 2026, with a domestic labour demand of between 3,300 and 3,500 workers and 35 to 40 foreign workers.
Upon addressing the meeting, Nguyen Van Tho, chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, hailed the group’s decision for choosing Phu My 3 Industrial Park as its investment destination.
He added that the locality will create optimal conditions possible for Chinese investors to carry out relevant procedures as they put the project into operation as soon as possible.
