Unlike Apple’s traditional designs, the iPhone Air signals a major shift in style. Though not the most powerful in specs, the ultra-thin model hints at the direction Apple will take with its foldable device.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iPhone Fold will look like two iPhone Air devices joined by a hinge, creating a seamless larger screen when opened. The key lies in its thinness: reports suggest it could be slimmer than the iPhone Air’s 5.6mm, potentially just 4.5mm, making it one of Apple’s thinnest devices ever.

Gurman predicts a starting price of at least $2,000, positioning iPhone Fold as one of Apple’s most expensive products. The device is expected to feature a 7.5-inch main display and a 5.5-inch outer screen.

Apple’s supply chain challenges remain critical. While Foxconn in China will play a primary role, India is emerging as a key hub in Apple’s diversification strategy. The company is already shifting production to India, aiming for a significant share of iPhones sold in the U.S. by 2026 to be assembled there. Trial production is underway in Taiwan before scaling up in India.

Manufacturing hurdles persist, from sourcing components to building a local supplier ecosystem. Still, Apple’s push reflects its need to mitigate risks from global trade tensions.

With its high price tag, iPhone Fold will target premium customers eager for cutting-edge tech. While it may not redefine the market like the original iPhone, Apple is clearly betting on foldables as the next frontier.

If the leaks prove true, iPhone Fold will embody Apple’s DNA: elegance, thinness, and hardware power. Yet questions remain over hinge durability, software optimization, and market reception. For now, iPhone Air sets the stage for the company’s most ambitious smartphone yet.
