VietNamNet Bridge – Being grumbled by his wife for buying an expensive ornamental bird, a man in the northern province of Yen Bai cut off his hand and put it in a pot to boil.



On April 12, Mr. Vu Ngoc Thanh, 29, in Tran Yen district, bought an ornamental bird worth VND1.5 million ($70). He took the bird to his father’s home and saw his wife, Ms. Ha Thi Hang there.

The wife complained that their family was poor but Thanh bought a very expensive bird. Hang asked her husband to give back the bird. The couple had a fierce argument. The husband was so angry and strangled the bird to death in the yard. After that they returned to their home.

Hang then went to a nearby kindergarten to pick up her child. At home, Thanh placed his hand on a chopping-board and cut it off. The man put the hand into a pot and boiled it. After that, he bandaged his crippled hand and called his relatives.

Losing a lot of blood, the man was brought to a hospital for first aid. As the hand was boiled, doctors could not reconnect it.
