Children’s best selling author to bring out new book
Nguyen Nhat Anh, children’s best selling author, will present his latest book ‘Co Hai Con Meo Ngoi Ben Cua So’ (There Are Two Cats On The Window) for his little readers this summer.
The book tells about the friendship between Gau, a poet cat and Ti Hon,a painter mouse. They share their love for a cat, Ao Hoa, and a mouse, Ut Hoa and share happy dreams with each other.
Twelve thousand of copies of the book will be released nationwide on International Children’s Day on June 1.
Nguyen Nhat Anh is a favourite author of children, teenagers and adults. His well-known novels recently published include Toi la Beto (I am Beto); Cho Toi Xin Mot Ve Di Tuoi Tho (Give me a ticket to childhood); Dao Mong Mo (Dream Island); and Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh (I see yellow flowers on green grass).
Anh was granted the Southeast Asian Writer Award last year for the book Cho Toi Xin Mot Ve Di Tuoi Tho (Give me a ticket to childhood).
Third cartoons festival opens
The third cartoon festival will be held in Ha Noi from today, June 1, until June 8 at the Ha Noi Library.
Cartoon lovers will have the chance to visit two exhibitions by well-known artists from Viet Nam and Belgian. On display are works by 40 Belgian cartoonists and 11 young Vietnamese artists.
Belgian authors Jean-Claude Servais and Jean Auquier held a seminar yesterday about the art of composing cartoon stories and held discussions with young readers.
According to Pham Quang Vinh, director of Kim Dong Publishing House, the exhibition marked the development in the quality of Vietnamese cartoons.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at 4.30pm today at the Ha Noi Library, 47 Ba Trieu St. The event has been co-organised by Wallonie – Bruxelles Delegation and Kim Dong Publishing House. The two previous cartoon festivals held in 2010 and 2011 proved popular with the public.
Europe-Vietnam Documentary Film Festival in Danang, Hanoi
After the huge success of last year’s festival, the fourth ‘Europe-Vietnam Documentary Film Festival’ will be held in Hanoi from June 8 to 17 and Danang City from June 15 to 24.
The event is being organized by the Documentary and Scientific Central Studio and the European Union National Institute for Culture (EUNIC). The festival attracts the participation of Austria, the U.K., Germany, Denmark, France, Spain, Switzerland, Wallonie-Bruxelles and Poland.
The organizers expect to receive works from young Vietnamese filmmakers and their documentary films will be selected as an introduction to the event.
Each evening a European film and a Vietnamese film will be screened to audiences. The festival will present films such as ‘Vinyl’ (Austria), ‘Robot’s Love Story’ (Denmark), ‘Dans Tes Yeux’ (France), ‘First Lesson’ (Poland), ‘Maria and Me’ (Spain) and Chuyen lang then (Then village’s story).
In Hanoi, movies will be screened at the Central Science and Documentary Film Studio, 465 Hoang Hoa Tham Street and in Danang at Fafilm Vietnam, 79 Quang Trung Street.
