Photograph book reflects world love for President Ho Chi Minh


A 200-page photography book entitled Love of International People for President Ho Chi Minh has been released by the Youth Publishing House.

The book shows how much people throughout the world love the President as well as realise that many people take him as their model.

The book includes photographs collected by the Party Central Committee's Commission for Popularisation and Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh Museum.

The book marks the President's 121st birthday and brings a new view of the President, who was recognised by UNESCO as a Vietnamese liberation hero and a great man of culture.


Translated poems by Nguyen Trai to be discussed at HN University


Beyond the Court, a collection of poems by Vietnamese poet Nguyen Trai translated into English, will be introduced tomorrow at the Ha Noi University of Culture.

The public will have an opportunity to take part in a discussion with translators American Paul Hoover and poet Nguyen Do.

The collection will also be introduced in Nghe An and Quang Ngai provinces and HCM City.


Photograph exhibition first by Viet Nam Leica buffs


Seventy colour and black-and-white photographs from 27 local photographers are being displayed at 29 Hang Bai Street.

With the theme Living Is a Hyphen among the Past, the Present and the Future, the first Leica photograph exhibition, organised by the Viet Nam Leica Club, aims to keep creative views and honour the real beauty of life.

German camera brand Leica has been around for nearly 100 years.

The exhibition runs until next Tuesday.


Contest seeks designer to go to London Fashion Week


The Young Design Entrepreneur competition is seeking a young creative business to represent Viet Nam at London Fashion Week and the London Design Festival in September.

Creative entrepreneurs should possess entrepreneurial abilities, leadership potential, market awareness and understanding, originality of ideas and international outlook and the ability to network globally.

The competition is being organised by the British Council with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and PNJ Company.


HCM City's BHD Star Cinema offers family-friendly fare


BHD Star Cinema 3/2 is offering family film days from May 20 to June 2 with three animation films every day.

Children can again meet Po, the fat, slack panda with a kind heart from Kungfu Panda 1, join the interesting adventures of the four mischievous friends Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo from Madagascar 2, and see giant dinosaurs in Ice Age 3.

Tickets cost VND40,000 per person, VND80,000 for a ticket for an adult and a child along with a soft drink and a popcorn, or VND120,000 for tickets for two adults and a child along with a soft drinks and a popcorn.

On Children's Day (June 1) the first 400 people to buy tickets for Kungfu Panda 2 (3D) will receive invitations to a children's party that evening.
