Vietnamese artists bring shows to disabled kids

Vietnamese theatre directors Anh Tu and Si Tien from the Youth Theatre are joining with their colleagues from around the world in the International Children Theatre festival in the Israeli capital city of Tel Aviv.

The six-day festival, which opened on November 19, will see 20 performances engaged in such art genres as water puppetry, theatre and contemporary dance. It is expected to produce joint art programs for children.

Anh Tu and Si Tien have directed a lot of works for children under an international cooperation project entitled “Voice of Children” from 2007 to 2009, which were put on stage free of charge for Vietnamese children.

Earlier, the Director of Youth Theatre, Truong Nhuan and other artists from the theatre went to New Delhi for an international event meant for the disabled.

Youth Theatre artists to perform in Israel

Two young artists from the Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theatre are representing Viet Nam at the International Stage Festival for Children in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Anh Tu and Si Tien are performing at the event, which began yesterday and will run until Saturday. The duo have directed many pieces for children in the past, and put on children's shows for free as members of the Youth Theatre troupe, which is a part of ASSITEJ (the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People).

The Israeli festival attracts many troupes and artists from around the world to share experiences creating plays for children in different fields, such as contemporary dance, puppetry and drama.

Last week, Truong Nhuan, the Youth Theatre's director, led a group of artists to perform at an international performing event for the disabled in New Delhi.

The annual event has been held since 2003, and this year gathered more than 100 artists including disabled ones from 20 countries in the world.

Da Nang museum reveals historical objects

A collection of 150 objects dating from the 15th through to 17th centuries have been put on display at Da Nang Museum in an exhibition that will last for two months

The items are all from private collections, and this is the first time that antiques of this nature have been open for the public to see, said Ha Van Mai, director of the museum.

After the exhibition, the collectors will donate 54 of the objects to the museum.

Street of flowers for Year of Snake celebrations

Bach Dang Street in Da Nang will be transformed into a 1km long flower display for eight days of celebration for the coming Lunar New Year, the director of the Viet Art company, Le Tan Trung Ba, said on Monday.

He said that 100,000 flower baskets displaying 100 species of flowers will be designed in the shape of a snake to honour the year of snake (Black Dragon) from February 7-14.

"We will also decorate the flower street to represent six different themes from the year, including Valentine's Day," Ba said.

"Visitors and local people will enjoy an extraordinary variety of colourful flowers along the street on the banks of the Han River."

Nicolas de Angelis guitar collection out now

Phuong Nam Film on Monday released its romantic guitar collection of six CDs from popular guitarist Nicolas de Angelis.

The collection includes Soleil, Le meilleur de la guitare, Quelques Notes Pour Anna, Toute la Guitare, Grand Concert, and Les Sonates - which has the participation of legendary pianist Richard Clayderman.

De Angelis was a member of the classical band Delphine Artist.

The CDs are priced at VND420,000 for the whole set or VND73,000 for an individual CD and are available at Phuong Nam bookstores nationwide.

*Vietnamese meritorious artist Anh Tu and director Si Tien traveled to Israel to join the Tel Aviv International Children’s Film Festival which opened on Monday in Tel Aviv, reports VietnamPlus.

The festival attracts hundreds of artists worldwide with puppet shows, plays, contemporary dances as well as folk singing for children. It also creates an opportunity for art troupes and directors to share their experiences.

Meanwhile, Truong Thuan, director of the Youth Theater in Hanoi also led a Vietnamese art troupe to an international event for disabled people in New Delhi, India earlier this month.
