House on stilts revives in central highlands

More than 1,000 local people and tourists gathered in the central highlands city of Kon Tum last Sunday to celebrate the new biggest Rong house (house on stilts) in Kon Klor village.

At the event, people sang and danced, drank can wine and participated in buffalo stabbing fest.

The house is 17.2 meters in length, 6.4 meters in width and 22 meters in height. Twelve pillars were made of expensive woods that could stand rainy and sunny season in the highlands.

Later people in Kon Klor village contributed 3,500 working days to rebuild the VND1.8 billion (US$86,400) Rong house again.
