Other attractions include water puppet shows, calligraphy demonstrations and artists from Dong Ho painting village who will show you how to paint the folk characters that have made their village famous.
Many ethnic folk games will be played. Kids can have fun with traditional toys such as pin wheel, to he (figurines fashioned from colored rice dough), flowers and fruits made of dough, 12 animal designations made of clay. Guests can enjoy many kinds of food.
Mekong ornamental sales at 5 riverbank sites
The HCMC Department of Transportation has announced five sales locations along the city’s rivers for ornamental potted-plants from the Mekong Delta before Lunar New Year.
The five sites are a 400-meter long area beside Phu Dinh River in Ward 16, District 8; a 200-meter long area along An Tai canal side in Ward 7, District 8; a 1.7km strip along the Tau Hu Canal stretching from the bridge on Ngang Canal to Cha Va Bridge; a 470 meter-long area from Cha Va Bridge to Nguyen Quyen Street; an 800 meter-long area from the corner of Le Quang Kim & Hung Phu streets to Chu Y Bridge.
“Only the five listed locations can sell ornamentals in the city,” Phan Cong Bang from the HCMC Department of Transportation, said.
To transport flowers from Mekong Delta provinces to HCMC, Mekong Delta gardeners should follow two routes. The first one is from Cho Dem’s river - Ben Luc - Cho Dem Bridge - Binh Dien Bridge – Doi Canal - Tau Hu Cabal. The second is from Vam Co Dong River - Nuoc Man Canal - Can Giuoc River - Tau Hu Canal.
Exhibition of Chinese artworks opens in Ha Noi
An exhibition of Chinese paintings, photos and calligraphies was opened recently in Ha Noi to mark the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-China diplomatic ties.
The event was jointly organised by the Viet Nam-China Cultural Exchange Club, the Ha Noi Library and the Federation of Literature and Art of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
On display were 32 paintings, 60 photos and 40 works of calligraphy in Chinese script by 27 artists from Guangxi province, some of which were photos of President Ho Chi Minh taken during his visit to the province 50 years ago.
Spring festival to stir up capital
A bursting spring atmosphere will be bought to downtown Ha Noi by a festival gathering typical products such as bonsai trees from handicraft villages on the outskirts of the city between January 27 and February 1.
The festival, which will be held on Tran Nhan Tong Street and nearby areas in Thong Nhat Park, will feature not only bonsai trees, but flowers from the villages of Nhat Tan, Tay Tuu, Me Linh along with artificial flowers made of paper, metal, bronze and wood by artisans living in the city.
Various traditional festive food such as gio cha (boiled minced pork paste), nem chua (fermented pork paste) from Uoc Le Village and jams from Xuan Dinh Village will also be available at the festival, along with worshipping wares from Ha Noi's Son Dong Village, and furniture from the northern province of Bac Ninh's Dong Ky Village.
Traditional folk performances will also take place including quan ho (love duets), cheo (traditional opera) and ca tru (ceremonial singing), as well as folk games and traditional handicraft competitions.
Da Lat flowers showcased at blooming extravaganza
The launching ceremony for a fresh flower showroom was opened in the Central Highlands city of Da Lat on Sunday by the Rung Hoa Biotechnology Joint Stock Company.
The 1,200 sq.m showroom features thousands of flowerpot including 60 varieties of temperate and tropical flowers, especially flower varieties specific to Da Lat such as orchid, cymbidium orchids, lyli, daisies and green apricot blossoms.
According to Rung Hoa company's General Director Nguyen Dinh Son, the showroom is built not only for business but also for introducing Da Lat's flowers to visitors.
