The stylish and sassy Social Club Saigon of the Hôtel des Arts Saigon has introduced its new cocktail list crafted with a blend of vintage and French-chic modernity, inspired by the perfume notes of YSL Beauty fragrance.
This collaboration between the two luxury artsy brands awaits huge excitement from discerning customers.
In every city with an MGallery hotel, there is a significant mixology component that awakens your senses and leaves you mesmerising about the place. The concept behind this new cocktail list has been inspired by YSL Beauty perfumes representing young, edgy, luxury and an unique aroma.
Eight French Classic fragrances have been reproduced with their tasting notes to seduce “Her & Him” by the Sài Gòn City light. Each cocktail has its own character that will suit each guest’s personal preference. MGallery Brand is celebrating its 10 year anniversary and this mixology event is part of the global scaled attention that pays tribute to the celebration.
Social Club Restaurant & Rooftop Bar is on the 23rd floor, bringing a new sense of sophistication and swagger to the city.
Conceived by the internationally-acclaimed Super Potato design firm of Japan, Social Club’s gorgeous interior is reminiscent of Europe in the 1930s. Here guests can enjoy delicious casual European cuisine, paired with an array of spirits, fine wine and champagne, as well as artful, handcrafted cocktails from the stunning Victorian vintage oak wood bar. The alchemy of Social Club Restaurant extends to the stylish Social Club Rooftop Bar, an outdoor lounge one floor above Social Club Restaurant, featuring breathtaking views of the city.
Articles and photos on display on Hoàng Sa Island

Articles on the Hoàng Sa (Paracel) Island on display at the Hoàng Sa Museum in Đà Nẵng.
An exhibition on the history of the Hoàng Sa (Paracel) Island is on display at the Hoàng Sa Island Museum from September 12-21.
The exhibition features nearly 300 articles, documents and photos about the island.
Island district Chairman Võ Ngọc Đồng said there are newspaper articles about ancient historical documents found on the island. More recent documents are also featured, with a report on the illegal oil
drilling by Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig (HD-981) in Vietnamese waters off the Hoàng Sa Archipelago in 2014.
Many articles, taken from local and national media, detail China’s illegal activities on the Hoàng Sa Islands.
A collection of articles about ancient maps and historical documents found on the islands, published between 1979 and 2011, is also on display.
There are photos of Việt Nam’s coast guard ships and their crews, and photos of journalists working to report the illegal placement of the HD-981 oil rig.
Entrance is free for all tourists and residents.
Last month, the Island district launched a contest for designers to create a logo and slogan for the museum, one of the most visited sites on Sơn Trà Peninsula. It has hosted 11,000 tourists, including 300
foreigners, between March and July.
The museum displays artefacts and documents showing the legality of Việt Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoàng Sa and Trường Sa islands. These include a collection of 150 maps published between 1618
and 1908.
Many maps show evidence the Paracel and Spratly archipelagoes belong to Việt Nam. This notion is supported by 102 books published in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and the Han
Chinese script, all showing the frontier of Southern China is Hainan Island.
The district plans to display the remains of a vessel that was rammed by Chinese boats in Vietnamese waters in 2014 behind the museum.

Part of its ‘Cruel and Beautiful World’ Movie Month, the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) will present the Danish movie Dancer in the Dark tomorrow night, September 14.
Produced in 2000, the crime/drama/musical movie was directed by Lars Von Trier. The movie features a famous cast including singer Bjork and Catherine Deneuve.
The movie tells the story of Selma (Bjork) – a Czech immigrant and single mother working in a factory in rural America. Her salvation is a passion for music, specifically, the all-singing, all-dancing numbers found in classic Hollywood musicals. Selma harbours a sad secret – she is losing her eyesight and her son Gene stands to suffer the same fate if she can’t put away enough money to secure him an operation. When a desperate neighbour falsely accuses Selma of stealing his savings, the drama of her life escalates to a tragic finale.
Dancer in the Dark will be presented in original English with Vietnamese subtitles. The screening is at 7pm. Requested donation (at the door): from VNĐ20,000. TPD is at 51 Trần Hưng Đạo Street (4th floor). Tel: (024) 39366559.
New exhibition opens at L’Espace

An exhibition entitled Infinity of Mirror by Christian Hadengue, Lê Thừa Tiến and Mark Lockett – an encounter between poetic and visual expressions, inspired by Western and Asian imaginations, will open at L’Espace tomorrow from 6pm.
This is a meeting between artists who have adopted a language naturally ‘out of step’ with their cultural backgrounds (Western and Asian) and a creation that reveals a deep fascination with ‘otherness’, in matter and in spirit. The question of cultural transversality becomes a deliberate choice. The notion of ‘origin’ is sidestepped, so that an instinctive and intuitive vision is found: a way of thinking beyond defined cultural boundaries.
The exhibition is expected to be a unique experience, allowing the audience to enjoy calligraphic artworks by Hadengue and Tiến’s paintings, with music composed by Lockett in the background, accompanied by Hubert Haddad’s poems.
The free exhibition will run until October 31, 9am-8pm. L’Espace is at 24 Tràng Tiền Street.
