VietNamNet Bridge – The country's biggest art and handicraft products fair opened yesterday, Jan 15, in Ha Noi for three weeks.

Two hundreds paintings, 200 ceramics artworks, 50 ao dai (traditional dress) collections and hundreds of sophisticated handicrafts products suitable for decorating and renewing the home in Tet (Lunar New year) holiday are presented to the public at the Hang Da Gallery on this occasion.

The fair, named Tet DOME 2016 is organised to contribute to the preservation of traditional Tet.

The artworks being made by famous artists on display and on sale are expected to make the houses more beautiful during Lunar New Year.

"What makes the fair special this year, it's the fact that it's the first time the Hang Da Gallery displays the selected works of some well-known paintings and ceramics collectors in Viet Nam," said artist Le Thiet Cuong, who is in charge of selecting the artworks.

During three weeks from yesterday to February 5, the public can also take part in diverse activities related to the fashion, painting, and gastronomy.

The public will have occasion to watch artisan Vu Van Gioi do hand embroidery, artisan Dinh Duc Hai from Chuong My lacquer village do lacquer products, and artisan Pham Anh Dao make ceramic products.

Nguyen Huu Tao (nephew of renowned artisan Nguyen Huu Sam) will explain to the public how to print the Dong Ho folk painting.

Other artisans from different craft villages will introduce to the public the way to cook traditional dishes for the Lunar New Year including banh chung (square rice cake), gio lua (pork roll) and the way to make the five-fruit tray which will be placed on the ancestral altar during Tet holiday.

A part of the proceeds of the fair will be donated to the charity program "Com co thit" to help unprivileged children in the country.

The fair runs until February 5 at the gallery in the Hang Da trade centre, located at 1 Hang Da street.
