The tour will begin at the exhibition of House of Nguyen II at Craig Thomas Gallery at 27i Tran Nhat Duat Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, HCMC.

Participants will have the opportunity to travel back in time to meet some characters of the era such as the last emperor Bao Dai, Empress Nam Phuong, and Emperor Gia Long.

The Nguyen dynasty ruled Vietnam from 1802 to 1945. Their lives and the extraordinary inner worlds they inhabited are surrounded by legend, myth and mystery, which will be revealed through the works of artist Tran Minh Tam.

This is a rare and exclusive opportunity to gain an insight into artist Tran Minh Tam’s practice, and through his artworks participants can learn about the intriguing and often turbulent lives of the Nguyen dynasty.

Art lovers and collectors first became familiar with Tran Minh Tam’s portrayal of royal characters from the past in 2013 when he introduced his House of Nguyen I series at Craig Thomas Gallery.

This event is hosted by Craig Thomas Gallery and Sophie’s Art Tour.

Established in 2009, Craig Thomas Gallery is the natural evolution of its founder’s decade-long involvement in the Vietnamese art scene and the relationships developed with artists, curators and collectors during that time.

The gallery is focused on supporting the development of young and mid-career Vietnamese artists and providing them with a platform to present their works to a wider audience.
