Featuring scenes from Hà Giang's popular tourist spots such as Mã Pì Lèng Pass, the Nho Quế River, the Lũng Cú Flagpole, and the Đồng Văn Karst Plateau, the new music video Hà Giang Ơi is the latest release from Quách Beem, a Vietnamese singer-songwriter known for his melodious compositions about family and the beauty of regions across the country.
According to Quách Beem, the song was written in 2018 and marks the beginning of his non-profit music project, in which he plans to write 63 songs about 63 Vietnamese localities.
"Although I was not born and raised in Hà Giang, I adore its beauty," he said.
"In 2018, when I first visited Hà Giang to donate gifts to children in need, I knew I had to spread the word about how amazing of a place it is."
The singer disclosed that he and his crew had to work nonstop for 15 days to produce the MV on time.
Some days, he said, the team had to get up at 2am to make their way to the filming site.
Beem said there are settings that require hundreds of extras to be gathered from the local community and from ethnic minorities. Yet, the most challenging is creating panoramic vistas at Lũng Cú Flagpole, Nho Quế River, and Đồng Văn Karst Plateau due to the rough terrains.

"At first, I wanted to get closer to reality, so I recorded some rough material to share with viewers." Beem said.
"Later, I was really surprised by how well the audience reacted to the song. That's why, I've made plans to go back to Hà Giang to create a proper MV there and help improve the province's reputation."
Beem revealed that filming was hindered by equipment damage and medical conditions among the cast and crew because of the difficult terrain they had to cross. Thankfully, though, they were able to always rely on the full support of visitors and locals.
"I would like to make a tiny contribution to the development of Việt Nam's tourism through this non-profit music initiative, beginning with the MV Hà Giang Ơi and I hope the audience enjoys it." he said.
Located in Việt Nam’s northeast region with its wild and magnificent natural landscape, Hà Giang has become increasingly attractive to visitors.
Ranges of rugged rocky mountains, the narrow paths winding through hills up and down, and the golden terraced rice fields, all embrace lots of mysteries not yet fully discovered.
Hà Giang is an old land, home to more than 20 ethnic groups, the Mông, Tày, Dao, Nùng, and Giáy, who have their own culture, lifestyle and customs, plus exciting festivals for visitors and researchers.
The Đồng Văn Karst Plateau in Đồng Văn District was recognised in 2010 by UNESCO as a global karst geo-park, the first of its kind in Việt Nam and the second in Southeast Asia (after the Langkawi Park in Malaysia).
In 2012, the terraced rice fields in Hoàng Su Phì District were listed among Việt Nam’s national heritage, and later in 2015 it became a national intangible cultural heritage. With its natural resources, Hà Giang Province obviously has many tourist landmarks of significant value. — VNS
