VietNamNet Bridge – Audiences in Ha Noi will get a unique perspective of a typical working day for Vietnamese farmers thanks to a contemporary dance show due to make its debut on January 22.

Vietnamese artists from the HCM City-based Arabesque Dance troupe will perform Suong Som (The Mist) at the Cong Nhan Cinema, depicting farmers' daily chores such as working in the fields and rice unhusking.

Directed by Tan Loc, the dance was a huge success at the HCM City Opera House and also drew plaudits at last year's international contemporary dance festival in South Korea.

Artists dressed in simple and traditional costumes express the early morning routine of farmers through contemporary dance moves in the rhythm of cai luong (renovated opera), percussion and zither.

According to Loc, The Mist's purpose is to honour the labour of farmers in Viet Nam and pay tribute to their contributions.

The event will also see the participation of Meritorious Artist Ngo Thuy To Nhu – who won the silver medal at a dance contest in South Korea last year – as well as Japanese dance partner Genta Fujikawa, zither artist Hai Phuong, cai luong artist Hong Tham and the popular composers Ton That An of France and Duc Tri from Viet Nam.

Tickets range from VND200,000 to VND1million.
