A Japanese cartoon week in Vietnam, jointly held by the Vietnamese Cinema Department and the Japanese Culture Department, will be held at the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi from January 12-16.
The event will feature 8 cartoons including Spirited Away, which won the Oscar prize for best animated feature in 2003.
Meetings between film producers and viewers and between Vietnamese and Japanese film makers will be held as part of the event.
HCMC holds concert for heart disease children
A charity chamber music concert will be held at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory on December 16 to raise funds for children in Vietnam who suffer from heart diseases.
Classical music lovers will enjoy a wide range of masterpieces composed by W.A Mozart, G. Gershwin, C. Franok and J. Brahms through the performance of the Republic of Korea pianist Joo Eun Young, French clarinetist Patrick Messina and cellist Jerome Lefrance.
The event is coorganised by the Consulate General of France, the Consulate of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City and the city’s Conservatory.
Hanoi hosts exhibition of insect photos
An exhibition featuring more than 200 photographs of insects taken Dr Vu Van Lien of the Vietnam National Museum of Nature and Italian photographer Saolo Bambi is being held in Hanoi.
Though taken for scientific purposes, the photos are not lacking in artistic value.
It is organized by the Vietnam National Museum of Nature and the Italian embassy to raise people’s awareness of insects and their habitats and mark 2010 as UNESCO’s Year of Biodiversity.
It is on at the Exhibition House, 45 Trang Tien Street, until December 19.
