More than 221 brilliant performances will be delivered by artists from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand during the art festival to foster solidarity among ASEAN nations, which opened in the central province of Quang Tri on July 18.

Nearly 960 artists from 17 domestic and four international troupes will vie for gold and silver medals at the festival.
Co-hosted by the Department of Performing Arts, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the International Cooperation Department, the Vietnam Dancers’ Association and the Vietnam Composers’ Association, the triennial event is significant to enhance friendship and cooperation among ASEAN member states.
It also gives Vietnam an opportunity to promote its arts, land and people to neighbouring countries while creating a venue for regional artists to exchange experience in art creativity.
The festival is a continuation of the past events successfully held in Quang Tri, including the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam art festival, “Trans-Asia road” and Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia music festivals.
The five best performances will be chosen for public shows to be held in the province during the festival.
The festival runs until July 25.
