The eighth Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) forum concluded in Ho Chi Minh City on June 22.
The organising board presented the TPO Award to a number of individuals and organisations, who are members of the TPO in the field of tourism
At the closing ceremony, the organising board presented the TPO Award to a number of individuals and organisations, who are members of the TPO in the field of tourism, in ten categories.
Among of them, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi were honored with this year's Best Marketing Campaign Award.
Addressing the event, Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism, expressed her sincere gratitude to the TPO Executive Committee for trusting and choosing Ho Chi Minh City as the host city of the eighth TPO forum.
The event aims to discuss measures to improve the capacity in tourism development of the TPO member cities, as well as developing new strategies to promote tourism development amidst the fourth Industrial Revolution.
Participants at the two-day event discussed the impacts of the fourth Industrial Revolution on all fields of economy, culture, society, health, education and tourism. It will help to boost the tourism sector by applying technology to complete the procedures for hotel accommodation and all tourism services, as well as making the travel experience more convenient for tourists, they argued.
The TPO is an international organisation that was established in 2002 at the 5th Asian-Pacific City Summit in Japan, acting as an inter-city network to promote the exchanges and development of the tourism industry among the major cities in the Asia Pacific region. The organisation consists of 86 cities, and 45 travel agencies and institutes and other tourism organisations from ten Asia Pacific countries and territories. The TPO forum is held every two years.
