Vietnamese rowers won a silver medal in the women’s Quadruple Scull at the Asian Games 2014 (ASIAD 17) on September 24.

Four athletes Le Thi An, Pham Thi Hue, Pham Thi Thao and Pham Thi Hai clocked 7’28’’48 placing second. The gold medal went to China.

In a shooting event, trio Minh Thanh-Quang Nam-Thanh Tu gained a total of 1,704 points in the men team’s 25m rapid fire pistol, overwhelming India to earn a bronze medal.

Ha Minh Thanh failed to win any silver ware in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol singles. He got 576 points and placed ninth in the qualifying round.

In women’s badminton, Vietnamese player Vu Thi Trang lost to Thai rival Ratchanok 0-2 and Le Thu Huyen was beaten by Korean competitor Sung Jihyun 0-2. Both failed in the qualifying round.

Vietnamese male badminton player Pham Cao Cuong handily defeated U Leong from China 2-0.

Vietnamese swimmer Anh Vien competed unsuccessfully in 100m backstroke event. Clocking 1’3’’13, Vien ranked ninth in the qualifying round.

On the morning of September 24, swimmer Duy Khoi achieved 4’29’’05 in 400m medley individual event to qualify for a berth in the final round in the afternoon.

With one gold, three silver and ten bronze medals, Vietnam currently stands in 11th place in the overall medal tally.
