Female Vietnamese players thrashed Hong Kong rivals 5-0 on September 23, placed second in group C and entered the quarter-finals of the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD 17) in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Hong Kong’s defender Wong So Ha made the mistake of heading ball to the home net, thus earning the first goal for Vietnam.

In the first match, Vietnam led 3-0 thanks to Vietnamese players Tuyet Dung in the 34th minute and Nguyen Thi Xuyen in the 45th minute.

The Vietnamese team continued to score two more goals in the second half greatly contributed by Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet on 69 minutes and Pham Hai Yen on 80 minutes.

Vietnam had earlier been victorious over Hong Kong (China): 7-0 in 2009, 3-0 in 2011 and 4-0 in 2013.

Vietnam will face Thailand in ASIAD quarter-finals at 8pm on September 26.
