Nguyen Ngoc Nhat Hanh, the daughter of REE’s chair, is the young face in the top 50.

The oldest member of the top 50 women is 64 years old, while the youngest was born in 1991. The total assets of the 50 women hit VND21.45 trillion by the end of 2014, an increase of VND4.9 trillion over 2013.

Holding shares of the largest listed real estate firm, Pham Thu Huong, deputy chair of the Vingroup’s board of directors, has for the fifth time been recognized as the richest woman in Vietnam.

Her husband, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, topped the list of 100 richest stock millionaires in 2014. Vuong is also the first Vietnamese dollar billionaire recognized by Forbes.

The second position on the list of top 50 belongs to a member of the Pham family – Pham Thuy Hang, deputy chair of Vingroup, who holds shares worth VND2.3 trillion.

Vingroup is believed to be one of the most “powerful” and profitable conglomerates in Vietnam.

Though Vingroup’s share prices dropped by 30 percent in 2014, the stock assets of the Pham family’s members, the owners of the group, have been increasing thanks to the higher numbers of shares they hold.

The next positions are held by the wives of Masan Group’s and Hoa Phat’s chairs – Nguyen Hoang Yen and Vu Thi Hien.

With more than 26 million Masan’s shares, the Yen firmly stands in the third position with VND2.17 trillion worth of assets. Meanwhile, the Hoa Phat share price increase of 30 percent in 2014 helped Hien receive an additional VND600 billion in assets. She now has VND1.8 trillion.

Holding 17.5 million worth of Minh Phu Seafood Company shares, which saw the price increasing by threefold in 2014, Chu Thi Binh, deputy general director of the company, and wife of Minh Phu’s chair Le Van Quang, is now in the fifth position on the list.

The position once belonged to Truong Thi Le Khanh, chair and general director of Vinh Hoan, also a seafood company.

Analysts noted that the top 5 women leave the others far behind with the total assets of the top five reaching VND11.7 trillion, higher than the total assets of the other 45 women millionaires.

Though 2014 was a year of many ups and downs for real estate development firms, Nguyen Thi Nhu Loan, chair of Quoc Cuong Gia Lai, and Dang Thi Hoang Yen, chair of Tan Tao Group, still could maintain their seventh and eighth positions on the list with asset value up by VND200 billion and VND100 billion, respectively.

Nguyen Ngoc Nhat Hanh, the daughter of REE’s chair, is the young face in the top 50.
