The police on September 27 conducted an administrative inspection of a house in My An ward of Ngu Hanh Son district, and found there were four cannabis plants about 1m tall in the toilet on the terrace.
The house was owned by W.D.R., a 59 year old man of Australian nationality, and N.T.H.N, his Vietnamese wife.
When the police came, the Australian man brought the four cannabis plants to the toilet to avoid detection.
The man confessed to growing cannabis for his own use. He then tested positive for drugs.
The police of Ngu Hanh Son District are completing procedures to handle the case.
In Vietnam, cannabis is classified in the List I of drugs that are absolutely banned in medicine and social life according to a Government decree issued in 2018. It is illegal to buy, sell, transport, possess and use cannabis in the country.
