Tien Yen district is the place of cultural convergence and interference of ethnic groups of the eastern districts of Quang Ninh province with up to 10 ethnic groups. This is also the land of diverse terrain with well-preserved landscapes and ecosystems.

Tien Yen not only has forests, but also 35km of coastline with a tidal area of nearly 9,000 hectares, including 6,200 hectares of mangrove forest. In particular, Dong Rui mangrove forest with a diverse ecosystem and Mui Long Vang sandy beach is an amazing gift of nature.

The mangrove forest system stretches along the coast in Dong Ngu, Dong Hai, Hai Lang and Tien Lang communes; beautiful landscapes such as the Dragon Cave (Ha Lau commune), Khe San waterfall, King mountain (Phong Du commune), Nam Vam waterfall, Love Hill, Tuyet Tinh Coc Lake (Dai Duc commune), Khe Tau lake (Dong Ngu commune) ), Khe Cat lake (Hai Lang commune)... are considered potential resources for the development of community-based ecotourism associated with experiencing the life of local people.

Tien Yen district also has historical relics that have been recognized and ranked at the provincial level such as Khe Giao, Road No. 4, Khe Tu, Ngo Islet, An Long Pagoda... and beautiful architectural works and historical relics of high values such as Tien Yen Ancient Town, Temple of Ong Hoang Can (Hai Lang commune), Quan Am pagoda (Tien Lang commune), Linh Quang pagoda (Tien Yen town) ...

These are the natural and cultural potential for Tien Yen to develop tourism, especially community-based tourism. However, Tien Yen's community-based tourism is still in its infancy. The district has and will deploy many solutions to develop community-based tourism in the coming time, and at the same time will focus on preserving culture, nature, and the environment, connecting people to the development of community-based tourism products with local identities.

Awakening the potential of Tien Yen tourism, according to experts' suggestions, Tien Yen district needs to focus on promoting indigenous cultural elements, building unique and special community-based tourism products such as homestay, cuisine, OCOP products, art activities, culture and sports...

At the same time, the district also needs to focus on training human resources for community-based tourism, who are indigenous people, in a professional manner, preserving cultural identity, environment, improving the quality of life for people...

Besides, Tien Yen also needs a plan to build a community-based tourism development model associated with improving sustainable livelihoods to exploit the values indigenous culture, as well as ensuring business efficiency.

Tien Yen district is focusing on developing tourism associated with regional links. The district gradually builds infrastructure to serve tourism, develops cultural tourism, eco-tourism, experiential tourism with community participation... associated with building new rural areas and cultural urban areas.

Since early 2023, Tien Yen has developed a tourism development plan. In particular, it aims to the goal of developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural values, especially traditional cultural values, ensuring the orientation of building Tien Yen into a cultural center with identity of the peoples of the Northeast region. The district strives to attract over 100,000 tourists this year.
