Party Politburo member and Central Committee's Secretariat permanent member Truong Tan Sang presented an A prize to Vietnam News Agency reporter Nguyen Dang Lam from central Quang Ngai Province for his story Ly Son - Bao tang song ve chu quyen cua Viet Nam (Ly Son Island - the museum of Viet Nam's sovereignty). The other A prize went to a group of Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper reporters for their entry about the theft of coal in northern Quang Ninh Province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sang said most of the entries provided accurate information about the political tasks of the country, various sectors and localities, and highlighted the nation's socio-economic situation, especially important events such as the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi and the campaign to follow Ho Chi Minh's example to learn and study.
Sang said the works should encourage people to abide by the law and participate in the struggle against bureaucracy, corruption and social evils.
Ha Minh Hue, Permanent Vice President of the Viet Nam Journalists Association said that the programme, the fifth organised so far, attracted its largest ever number of entries. About 1,320 entries were sent to the organising board, a 30 per cent increase compared to last year.
Hue, who is also Standing Vice Chairman of the Organising Board, said the entries were all of high quality, but there were not many of excellent quality.
The topic of protecting national sea sovereignty was highly valued by the board, he said.
The award ceremony was held at the Friendship Culture Palace in Ha Noi and aired live on VTV1 yesterday, June 21.
