Ba Dinh Square hosts flag raising ceremony to mark National Day
A flag-raising ceremony was held on September 1 in Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi to commemorate the 77th anniversary of National Day, an event which first took place on September 2, 1945.
Soldiers from the Command of Protection for the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum get the flag raising ceremony underway at the historic Ba Dinh Square located in Hanoi.
The guard for the ceremony comprises a total of 34 soldiers, with each one representing the first 34 soldiers of the Armed Propaganda Unit for National Liberation, the original predecessor to the Vietnam People’s Army.
The flag-raising ceremony is performed solemnly, with a sacred and respectful atmosphere descending on Ba Dinh Square for the occasion.
The flag-raising ceremony started on May 19, 2001, in Ba Dinh Square. It is held at 6 a.m. every day between April 1 and September 30 and at 6:30 a.m. every day from October 1 to March 31. In addition, a flag-lowering ceremony takes place at 9 p.m. each day.
